The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) and the IFPI (Hong Kong Group) have co-organised the first ever Hong Kong Music Fair from March 21-23, 2006 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The Hong Kong Music Fair was held concurrently with TDC's FILMART, which is Asia's premier film and entertainment market. The Fair provided an ideal platform for industry players to network, promote and to explore business opportunities. The Fair also explored new directions of the music industry, such as exploring cross-media partnership and marketing strategies to align with new trends in music product consumption.

Such a spectacular inaugural event attracted more than 70 companies participating from local and Mainland China, including record companies, music publishers, mobile phone makers and service providers, portable music device manufacturers and vendors, Internet music service providers, digital music entertainment and production companies, karaoke operators and system providers.
