As vice president of acquisitions and production for IFC Entertainment, Arianna Bocco is responsible for identifying and pursuing finished feature films that support the companyˇ¦s overall motion picture acquisition strategy. In this role, Ms. Bocco has acquired the U.S. rights to some of the independent film worldˇ¦s most critically acclaimed films including: 2008 Palme dˇ¦Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, which also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Film; Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park; and from the 2008 Cannes Film Festival the Golden Globe nominated Gomorrah, which also won the Grand Jury Prize; Hunger, the debut film for director Steve McQueen and 2008 Camera dˇ¦Or winner and most recently, Che, from award-winning director Steven Soderbergh.
IFC Entertainment distributes these films via its pioneering day and date film distribution model, making independent films available to a national audience by releasing them in theaters and simultaneously on cable's On Demand platform. In March 2008, IFC Entertainment also launched IFC Festival Direct, bringing quality feature films straight to the on demand platform as premieres.
