Former Asia editor at Variety, Patrick Frater is today working at the crossroads between publishing, consulting and entertainment finance.

Today based in Hong Kong, he previously lived in London and Paris.

With Variety Frater was responsible for expanding the paper's Asian coverage and for the launch of Variety Asia, the website and newsletter service dedicated to entertainment business news in the Asian region.

Previously, Frater held various posts with Screen International, including International Editor.

Educated at the London School of Economics, Frater began his journalistic career with Investors' Chronicle. Other publications he has written for include The Financial Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The European, Billboard, Media International, European Video Review, Film Journal, Le Film Francais, Blickpunkt Film and Music & Media.
